The Value Of Investing In Canadian Downtowns

downtowns coverAbstract: The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) was engaged by the International Downtown Association – Canadian Issues Task Force to carry out one of the most significant reviews of Canadian downtowns to date. This project is the first of its kind - examining 10 Canadian downtown (Halifax, Fredericton, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria) to assess changes in attitudes, perceptions, functionality and performance over time. This project also aims to inspire and inform city builders, with many excellent and innovative approaches to downtown revitalization that are being applied across the nation. The ‘Value of Investing in Canadian Downtowns’ is a living project. Stage two of this endeavour is currently underway with Regina and St Catharines signed up to participate in this study.
