Conferences, Workshops and Seminars

The
CUI hosts seminars and workshops
that introduce cutting edge urban
issues/solutions to decision-makers
and urban practitioners and promote
dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
We host conferences on topics like
brownfields redevelopment, urban
infrastructure revitalization, municipal
finance, goods movement and other
urban issues that bring together
people from all levels of government,
the private sector and a broad range
of non-profit, institutional and
academic organizations. The CUI
also organizes conferences and
workshops on a fee for service basis.

Contracted
Research, Public Consultation
|
The CUI
provides facilitation and consultation
services on complex city building
initiatives for a number of municipalities
and municipal organizations. The
CUI currently leads the affordable
housing work group for the Toronto
City Summit Alliance and provides
strategic advice on smart growth
and competitive city regions to
senior levels of government. The
CUI also undertakes a variety of
contracted research assignments
usually for government and public
sector organizations where the results
can be published and made available
to the public.

Program Management |
The CUI has
an internationally recognized reputation
for co-operative project development
and long-term, results-based management.
Over the past decade, the CUI has
successfully completed over 20 international programs to provide
Canadian expertise to municipalities
and regional governments in emerging
democracies and countries in transition
on a variety of issues including local
financial management, public participation
and poverty reduction. The CUI currently
provides long-term, results-based
management to nine projects in Europe,
the Caribbean and Asia under funding
arrangements with the Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) and the International
Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(World Bank).
