The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) is now taking applications for the 2008-2009 Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)

Please note that program approval is conditional upon the signature of a contribution agreement by CIDA.

To apply, please submit a detailed CV and a cover letter outlining your interest in the internship, your relevant experience, and your eligibility for the IYIP program to internships@canurb.com.

Please quote the internship number(s) in your cover letter and email subject line.

One application may be submitted for multiple internships, but your cover letter must outline your interest in and qualifications for all internships to which you are applying.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 16, 2008 at 5:00PM. However, applicants are encouraged to apply earlier as interviews will take place and positions will be filled on a rolling basis.

Please note that to participate in the CIDA internships, you must be:

• a Canadian citizen or permanent resident between the ages of 19 and 30;
• a post-secondary graduate; that is, a graduate of a degree or diploma program in a university, college, post-secondary school of technology, post-secondary institute or a CÉGEP (college d'enseignement general et professionnel, Québec);
• out of school (that is, you must not have courses, coop-terms or theses left to complete to satisfy your current degree requirements);
• ready to begin your professional career;
• unemployed or underemployed; and
• legally entitled to work in Canada.

However, you are not eligible if you have had a previous paid, career-related, international work experience, or if you have participated in a Youth Employment Strategy (YES) international internship program in the past. For more information about the CIDA internships, please click here.
