“Nature Count$: Valuing Southern Ontario’s Natural Heritage”
With major emphases on recent rural demographic and economic changes, human health, social benefits and the importance of natural assets to the rural and provincial economies, Nature Count$ provides a review of the socio-economic contributions of natural areas in southern Ontario.  The study also presents a preview of research needs for a comprehensive investigation of greenspace benefits.  While commissioned by the Ministry of Natural Resources, at the request of the Natural Spaces Leadership Alliance, the Nature Count$ study is for discussion purposes only and does not represent ministry or government policy, or the policy of any of the Alliance member organizations.

Presentation given by Glenn Miller, Director, Education and Research, Canadian Urban Institute, Dr. Ian Ferguson, psycho-geriatrician, and Gordon Harris, principal, Harris Consulting, at the 2005 Canadian Institute of Planners Conference in Calgary Alberta. By 2041, over a quarter of Canada's population will be comprised of seniors. This panel reviews the social, economic and design challenges planners will face in the near future across all Canadian urban regions.

"Business Competitiveness in the GTA: Why Toronto is Losing Ground" - June 2005
The Canadian Urban Institute, with Gordon Harris of Harris Consulting, was retained by the Toronto Office Coalition to study the effect on business competitiveness of current property tax inequities between Toronto and the surrounding jurisdictions. The report also examines the longer-term consequences of development patterns in the region.
