The Canadian Urban Institute has been active in Asia since 1994. The bulk of our long term programming in the region has been centred in Southeast Asia, with a smaller initiative in the Indian subcontinent. Our Asian programs are supporting democratic development, strengthening mandated decentralization laws, building good governance at the local level and pursuing improvements to the management of growing urban centres.
